Clinics and Services

The following services are available at the surgery:

Cervical screening, contraceptive services, vaccinations and immunisations including influenza and pneumococcal immunisation, childhood vaccinations and immunisations, child health surveillance, maternity medical services, minor surgery, anticoagulation monitoring, checking and removal of IUCD’s and near patient testing.

Contraception
Our practice nurses and doctors provide contraceptive services.  This includes a coil fitting service and Implanon implants by our two female GPs.

Emergency Contraception
The practice offers emergency contraception services to patients – if you need this service please inform the receptionist. If required, please ask to speak to the receptionist in private.

Well Woman
All women are offered general screening including the opportunity to have a cervical smear, blood pressure measurement and general health advice.

Asthma, Diabetic and Heart Disease Clinics
All asthmatic, diabetic and heart disease patients will be reviewed at least annually by the practice nurses.

Travel Immunisation
Advice and travel vaccinations are given by the practice nurse for patients who wish to travel abroad. It should be noted that you may need a prescription for some vaccinations, or a course of vaccinations, so adequate time should be allowed before you visit abroad.  Some holiday vaccinations and medicines are not provided on the NHS and a private prescription will be needed - this will incur a fee - please ask at reception for more details.

Minor Surgery
Many minor operations can be done by your doctor in the surgery, often avoiding the need for you to attend the hospital. Please make an initial appointment with the doctor to assess the problem.  If you require a minor operation that can be done in the surgery we will schedule you for the next available clinic.  These are undertaken monthly and the maximum wait should be no more than eight weeks.

Non-NHS Services

This practice provides a number of services which are not covered by the NHS and a fee is usually payable for these. These include certain types of medical examinations e.g. those required for HGV and PSV driving licences, pre-employment, fitness to participate in certain sports etc. A fee is also payable for the completion of forms e.g. private patient medicals, accident/sickness and holiday cancellation insurance claim forms, letters for travel fitness and private sick notes. A list of charges for these services is displayed in reception and further information is available from the secretary on 08444 773304.

We do not countersign passport applications but this can be done at a main post office for a charge. You do not need a Doctor’s certificate for the first seven days of illness. If you need a self-certification form these are available from the surgery or your employer.
