What is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)?

ACPs come from a variety of professional backgrounds such as nurses, paramedics, and pharmacists. They are experienced health care professionals with a Master Level award who have developed their skills and knowledge to take on expanded roles and scopes of patient care. This includes examination, diagnosis, prescribing and referring patients who present with a wide range of undifferentiated presentations. Our ACPs run clinics for same day appointments and have routine appointments.

What are the benefits of an ACP role in Primary Care?

More complex care is being delivered in General Practice and there is a huge demand for more clinicians due to increasing patient demand.  Advanced Practice roles can help improve clinical continuity, provide more patient-focused care, enhance the multi-professional team, and help provide sage, accessible and high-quality care for patients.

The Role of ACP’s at Heath Lane Medical Centre.

We currently have one fully qualified ACP from a nursing background and two ACPs in training, one from a nursing background and one from a paramedic background. All are fully supported by our team of GPs.
